This church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary is located on a mountain in Syria and was built around 547 AD.

In December 2004 the following miracle was broadcast on Lebanese Radio.It was also printed in newpapers of the day in that country and in Athens and the story was told by the man who lived it.

A very rich Saudi Arabian and his wife longed to have children but they could not. They sought help at home and abroad but to no avail. They decided to go to Syria for a holiday to forget their problems. They hired a car and driver, and went around sight seeing. The driver asked them why they were sad, and the Saudi confided his secret. The driver, although a muslim, told them about Panayia Saintanayia and how she had helped many childless couples. The Saudis asked the driver to take them there and they promised him $20,000 if they had children. They also promised to give $80,000 to the Monastery.They went there and the nuns gave them Holy Oil from the Holy Lantern of the Virgin Mary. They left Syria and went home . After a while the wife became pregnant. She gave birth to a son and they were both overjoyed.

The Saudi Arabian did not forget his promise. He made plans to return to Syria . He called the driver and made plans to be collected from the airport. The driver though decided that he would not only have the $20,000, but would also take the $80,000 intended for the Monastery. He took two friends with him with the intention of killing the Saudi. When the Saudi saw them all he was so happy that he offered to give the taxi drivers two friends $10,000 each. They ,however, took him to a remote place where they killed him ,and cut his body up into pieces, intending to scatter it far and wide. As they were driving, intent on their mission, their car broke down. A passer-by offered to help them , but they refused assistance,fearing their crime would be discovered. As the passer-by drove away, he noticed blood dripping from the boot of the car. He went straight to the police and told them what had happened. The police got to the scene, and finding the car there still stopped and broken down, opened the boot. The Saudi jumped out alive . The thieves had cut off his head,arms and legs.

"The Virgin Mary has just finished sewing my body back together. She has just vanished," he said.
The Killers, once they saw what happened, lost their logic. The Saudi was taken to hospital, and the doctors verified the miracle. The Saudi gave $800,000 to the Monastery and became a Christian.
